If you live in Virginia or North Carolina, are looking for a beach destination that is close to home, family friendly, quiet but plenty to do, and enough room on the beach to spread out your towel with space to spare (a Summer 2020 must) than the Crystal Coast of North Carolina may fit the bill.
Thanks to the recent completion of several bypass roads, it is now closer than ever. From points around metro Richmond, VA, the drive can be accomplished in under 4 hours. From the Raleigh area, it is a mere two hours or less.
The Crystal Coast is a barrier island south of the Outer Banks. It is comprised of the towns of Emerald Isle, Indian Beach, Salter Path, Pine Knoll Shores & Atlantic Beach. Mainland towns nearby of Beaufort, Morehead City, Swansboro and New Bern offer even more in terms of restaurants, shopping, historical sites and attractions.
Stay tuned for ideas of where to go, where to eat and what to expect!
